Abacus-Style Beaded Row Counter

Each counter is handcrafted using quality glass sead beads and two hematite decorative center beads. Each counter can track up to 599 rows, which is far more than comercially available counters. They are beautiful and practical, and designed to compliment almost any common color of yarn. They fit over knitting needles up to US size 10, and can be pinned to your knitting or attached to a larger marker, or even worn as a necklace for large-needle projects. They are also highly portable - the shaping of the wire holds beads in place until you move them, so you can toss your work in a bag and take it with you.

How the counter works:

• Each green bead represents one completed row
• Each pink bead represents five completed rows
• Each blue bead represents 25 completed rows
• Each silver bead represents 100 completed rows

The counter as displayed in the photo shows 163 rows - 1 silver bead (100 rows) 2 blue beads (50 rows), two pink beads (10 rows) and three green beads (3 rows).

Each time you begin a row, you move one of the green beads from the bottom to the loop at the top of the counter. When you have completed 5 rows, you will not have any green beads left to move. Use the black center bead to help drop them back down to the bottom, and move 1 pink bead up. Similarly, when you complete row number 25, you will have all green beads and all pink beads in the upper loop. Move them all, both pink and green beads, back to the bottom, and move one blue bead to the top. You know to move a higher value bead to the top when you run out of the lower value beads. If you forget what value the beads have, the non-movable beads in the middle of the counter will help remind you. The lowest value bead (green) is stacked on top, indicating that you move these beads first. Next in the stack is the pink beads, then the blue beads and silver. This allows you to remind yourself at a glance how much each bead is worth. The counter provides a beautiful, easy-to-read and portable way to keep track of your knitting on even the most complex of patterns.

If you have any color preference (Original, patriotic, bright, earthy, blues and greens, etc.), feel free to specify them in the comments box and when possible they will be honored, but the colors sent will depend on availability.
