This top is designed to show off your figure in a flattering form, whether you are slim or ample. It achieves an elegant look with a clean and simple design, and can be worn for both everyday informal or fancier evening events. The garment is knit in once piece in the round from bottom up. Instructions are given for a range of waist sizes in each size, and suggestions for modifying length are also included. This top requires intermediate skills, but should be accessible to the ambitious beginner looking to expand their skills. The lace itself is relatively simple, with only 4 lace rows and require knowledge of both right and left leaning single decreases. Instructions are also given for a matching wrap knit entirely in the lace motif, which is not shown in the photos.
Sizes: Bust/hips: 28, 30, 32, 34; 36, 38, 40; 42, 44, 46; 48, 50, 52, 54 inches
Waist: 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 inches smaller than bust/hips
Length from center of bust to bottom edge: 12 inches
Yarn: 5 (5, 5, 5; 6, 6, 6; 7, 7, 7; 8, 8, 8, 8) 50 gram/110 meter balls of DK weight yarn. Sample shown in elsebeth lavold Cotton Patine 100% combed cotton, color # 06 in 40 inch size.
Gauge: 5.5 stitches/inch, 8 rows/inch
Needles: US 6 (4mm) circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Larger sizes may use longer needle.
2 double pointed needles in 1-2 sizes smaller for cord straps (or 4 prong spool knitter)
Other supplies: At least 2 stitch markers, 8 safety pins or small stitch holders, Pins for fitting straps, Darning needle for attaching straps and tucking in ends.
