Clocktower socks give you all the fun and look of complex cabled designs with a minimum of fit problems and fuss. The central clockwork cable, with its many twists and turns resembling gears and wheels, is created almost entirely with increases and decreases, giving the look of cables without any bulky crossovers of more than 2 stitches, for a sock that stretches almost as easily as stockinette. The side cables evoke the buttresses and scroll-work of a Gothic Cathedral, and also allow for consistent stretch of the fabric. The design slides seamlessly from cuff to toe, with the buttresses dividing at the heel, and sweeping along the curve of the gusset to your toes. This design requires intermediate knitting skills and familiarity with both cables and a variety of increase techniques, and is an excellent way to show off your stitch work while still achieving a comfortable, elegant and warm sock.
Finished sizes: Small 7.25 in, Medium 8 in, Large 8.75 in.

Gauge: 11 SPI in cable stitch (10 SPI in stockinette)
Yarn: 100g/450yds of any solid or very gradually changing striped yarn. If using striped yarn you may require extra yarn to match the color at the heels as shown.
Shown in Skacel Zauberball, color 1535 (Stone Washed), 100g/462yd. 1 ball.
Needles: 5 - 2.00mm (US 0) DPN's, or size needed to obtain gauge + 2 spare DPN's for cable needle and for heel flap pick up.
