Here are several photos I took of my extremely photogenic new sock, Diamonds are Forever. It is so named because while knitting it I was calling it the sock that never ends. Its a toe up kneesock with short row toes and heels, in Schaeffer's Anne yarn, knit on commission for the Schaeffer company. Its extremely warm and soft, and the shaping worked out quite well, I believe. I chose that particular mosaic because it was easy to place increases and still maintain the mosaic pattern up the leg. It was quite a labor but I got most of the leg done in about a week, and that with a real job too.
Shown with DAF and on its own lower on the page is DAF's little brother, Merlin's Mosaic. Merlin can also be knit as a kneesock, but of course there's just not enough yarn in 2 skeins of Anne for 2 full pairs of kneesocks. Just 2 keesocks and 2 regular socks (even for feet bigger than mine, at my favored tight gauge). Merlin was a bit more complicated to knee-sock-ize but he comes out quite well. He was named by a Suzi's Knits fan in my LYS - the motif looks like sparkles or bursts of energy, and is rather celtic in its crossing lines.
The patterns will eventually be available, but I am not yet sure exactly WHERE. Schaeffer yarns will present them at TNNA, a wholesaler's conference in June, and we'll figure out about the publishing of the pattern sometime soon. I will of course defintiely let everyone know. Also, expect more pics of merlin and the 2 together, the sun was just not cooperating and the colors really show up better in full sun on my dinky camera.
